CCC Motor Court
— ROLE
Interior Design
— DATE
2016-present
The Motor Court and adjacent San Soloman Spring pool near the Davis Mountains were originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935-1940 from local limestone and adobe brick. The project required site and facility upgrades, historic analysis and renovation, and historically accurate interior renovations and furniture design. The Historic Preservation and Interiors teams in Topeka and Lawrence, KS handled this project.
As the interior designer on this project, I worked extensively with the Historic Preservation and Texas Parks & Wildlife teams to document existing conditions, evaluate historic interior architectural elements and furniture, and study original photography and drawings. The goal of the project was to renovate and upgrade the heavily-used facilities in a historically appropriate, durable, and sustainable way.
